New Skool Rulez Review
The anticipation was rife on 30 th May 2008 as the crowd gathered outside Clayton Hall, eagerley awaiting the doors to open to Hip Hop event ‘New Scool Rulez 08'. Despite an unexpected delay, the awesome vibe of this well-behaved crowd could not be curbed as they cracked jokes and practised moves to tunes playing on their mobiles while patiently waiting in line.
Once inside their patience was rewarded with amazing performances from Hip Hop dance crews Allure and Fusion, krumpers T.H.A Royals and rappers Baby Bone & Fae all of whom really got the crowd going.
Next up, the crowd were encouraged to strut their stuff with competitons where they could show off their krumping, popping, shuffling and break-dancing skills to win plenty of prizes and giveaways. The atmosphere of this event was very inclusive with people of all ages, from parents to younger siblings having a go - and once they started they did not stop!
The dancing lasted all night as an eclectic mix of both old and new school Hip Hop music was played throughout the night by the very talented 14-year old local celebrity DJ Eman.
We would like to thank Multicultural Arts Victoria, WACT Productions, Eastern Drug and Alocohol Service (EDAS) and Clayton Police for their contributions to this event.
Also a huge thank you to Aggie, Sharleen, Sherzy, Netha and Hina for volunteering to assist the Monash FReeZA Quiksound commtiee in the planning, promoting and running of this event – your knowledge and experience were invaluable!
