Glen Waverley Festival REVIEW

April 13th , it's Sunday morning and it was cold outside. This doesn't seem to faze people however. 11am and there were already people at Central Reserve waiting for the annual Glen Waverley Festival to start.

The day started off with some hitches, but once the rain cleared off and there was sound on stage, the action started. Kicking it off on stage was local band My Own Enemy, followed by For Our Hero. The crowd were warmed up and ready to rock! Onstage next was Shooting Down Disaster, who said an emotional goodbye to all their fans as they played their last show ever.

If you got bored while you were waiting for the next band to come on, there were plenty of others things going on around the place, too! You could go down and check out all the talent in the skate competition. If skating wasn't your thing, there were foot bag workshops, free rides and you could even go and get yourself a temporary tattoo. And if you got hungry, there was a sausage sizzle, Quiksound canteen, Ice cream stand, and snow cones waiting for you!

Back on stage Three Last Words were getting the crowd really excited when guest drummer Glenn from Boardworx came to help the boys cover Blink 182's legendary Dammit. Not only did Glenn bring his great drumming skills, but he also brought along with him loads of free caps and tees to give away.

Meanwhile down at the skate competition, the judges and audience were being amazed by the skill of all the competitors. Big tricks were seen by all. And rightly so, because thanks to Boardworx, there were some great prizes and giveaways up for grabs.

As if things weren't exciting enough already, The Quarters were next to take the stage, followed by Don't Ask Us. Closure In Moscow played next, rocking out hard and getting everyone's adrenaline pumping. Anticipation was building, and finally the wait was over. The band that everyone had been waiting for finally took control. The Getaway Plan excited and amazed while they were onstage, playing both old and new hits from their debut Other Voices, Other Rooms.

Overall, it was a great day and the weather didn't stop anyone from having a great time. Bands gave it their all, the skate competition went off and if there was spare time in between there were free rides for all. There was music for the ears and skating for the eyes, what more could anyone want?
