Young Mums’ is a structured group program providing support and information. It provides an opportunity to explore ways to best manage new stages and milestones as your child grows. You will increase your social connections and build skills in an inclusive and friendly environment.
If you are interested in attending or would like more information, call Sammy or Jenny on 9541 3130 to have a chat about the program.
From balancing beams to bubbles, books to bunny ears, Term 1 saw the Young Mums encourage their children to explore their physical and creative abilities.
Thank you to our special guest speakers for attending the program and sharing valuable information. Julie from Monash Maternal and Child Health supported the Young Mums with feeding, home safety and settling advice. Laura from Clayton Aquatic and Health Centre presented on the topic of water play and water safety for children and babies.
In Term 2 we will introduce ‘group morning tea time’, encouraging positive behaviours for toddlers at meal time. There will be more art and crafts for all ages, including further discussion about affordable and fun activities for both mother and child.
The Young Mums’ Program welcomes new mothers and their children to join throughout the year. Please contact Sammy or Jenny on 9541 3130 for more information about the group.
Term 4 of 2012 saw the start of a refreshed and re-energised Young Mums’ Program at MYFS. We watched our babies learn to explore and our toddlers experiment with new concepts. Mums encouraged their children to explore sound and texture though music, art and play.
We had some brilliant discussions about introducing solids, healthy eating, fussy toddlers, women’s reproductive health, encouraging positive behaviour, giving your child a voice and using positive communication. Three wonderful guests joined the group for their specialist insight into some of these topics, providing information and referral in response to questions asked by our mums.
Young Mums has just kick started for 2013 and we welcome new mums and children along to the program. This term will see activities and discussions around safety, behaviour, fun food and entertainment.
