On Wednesday 19 October 2011 the City of Monash Film Festival, Lights! Camera! Shorts! Will be screening for its seventh year. It will be a fantastic night, so please coming along and see a collection of great films that were created by local young people. The festival will be held at Village Cinema’s at Century City Walk with doors opening at 6.00pm and cost is $5.00.
In 2010, the Monash Youth Festival was filled with an amazing group of people, with young and old and everything in between. With the cinema reaching its capacity there was a buzz in the air and there were many laughs even bore the lights went down, the curtains opened and the first film started. The cinema was silent as fellow film makers and audiences alike were transfixed by the brilliance of each film.
12 Awards were given out to the nominated finalist. With an entry that cleaned out the Audience Choice Award in the School category, ‘Attack of the Zombies at Blood Red Lake” directed by Nick Memed, who is bound for fame. The Open Audience Choice Award went to “In Her Eyes” directed by Robert & Chris Smellin, who have won numerous awards at the festival in the past. “Rally” took the award for Best Film in the open category and a Lego stop-motion film named “Dracula” won for Best film in the school category.
The best part of the film festival after watching all the films of course, is meeting the people that made the films, it’s the best place to network and gain experience. So in all, come along and see what local young film makers are up to
