The musical talent of young people from Melbourne’s East will be on display later this month as the annual Battle of the Bands competition heats up.
Five groups, including Monash’s Seattle Fix, will be competing at the Eastern Metro Regional FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands concert on Friday 26 October.
The winning band will get to perform at the Push Over Festival next March, where the band judged to be the best in Victoria will receive recording time in a professional studio.
Indie pop/rock band Seattle Fix will be performing at the regional final, having won the Monash heat of the competition in early September.
Seattle Fix lead singer Olivia Puchalski said winning the event had made all the difference to the band’s confidence.
“Before we were just playing as a social thing whereas now we feel we have a bit of potential,” Olivia said.
Monash FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands: Battleocalypse & Eastern Regional Push Start Finals
The anticipation for the Monash FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands was epic. With a record number of applications this year and the best of the best chosen to play at ‘Battleocalypse’, this Battle was sure to go off.
The Bands competing this year have come from a diverse range of backgrounds, influences and experiences. This added originality and a complexity rarely seen before at the Battle of the Bands. It allowed the audience to be immersed in various genres of music, giving them an appreciation of all types of music as well as being thoroughly entertained by the different performances.
